Jamie McCarty ~ Principal

Jamie previously served at Stayton High School as a Physical Education and Health Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director. He then served as Principal of Sublimity K-8 School and Stayton Intermediate/Middle School (SIMS). For the past eleven years, Jamie served as a building principal and the Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning with the Silver Falls School District.

Michael Proctor ~ Assistant Principal

Michael Proctor joined the NSSD in the fall of 2005 as a sixth grade teacher at Stayton Middle School. He started his administrative career in the fall of 2007 as Asst. Principal/Athletic Director at Stayton High school. He held this position until 2011 when he returned to Stayton Intermediate/Middle School as Asst. Principal/Athletic Director until assuming the role of Principal in 2014. In 2025, he moved back to Stayton High as an Assistant Principal. 

Mr. Proctor taught and coached for seventeen years prior to becoming an administrator, including time at the Nestucca Valley SD, Santiam Canyon SD and seven years in Page, Arizona. 

Mr. Proctor is a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving for three years on active duty and seven years of National Guard and Reserve time. He grew up in Arlington, Oregon, a small town east of The Dalles right on the Columbia River. He is an avid golfer, playing every chance he gets. He and his wife, Darci, have two children, Brittney and Coby. He also has a son-in-law, Jacob, and daughter-in-law, Julie, and three grandchildren.

David Holcomb ~ Assistant Principal/ Athletic Director

David Holcomb serves as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Stayton High School. He brings more than a decade of experience in education and leadership, combining a strong background in teaching, mentoring, and program development with a passion for supporting students both in the classroom and in competition.

Before joining SHS, David served as the Teaching & Learning Coordinator for the North Santiam School District, helping lead districtwide efforts in instruction, assessment, professional learning, and program development. Earlier in his career, he taught social studies, AVID, and sports business courses, while also expanding access to Advanced Placement courses and mentoring new teachers as an Instructional Mentor. He brings experience with AVID Schoolwide as both an elective teacher and AVID Site Coordinator, where his work focused on schoolwide systems, classroom instruction, and school culture. David has also coached at a local 6A high school, serving as Head Varsity Track & Field Coach and Head Varsity Cross Country Coach, emphasizing teamwork, resilience, and character development.

David holds degrees from Corban University, Western Oregon University, and the University of Oregon, and has taught as an adjunct professor at Corban University since 2020. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and their two children, Addison and Dodson. The Holcomb family loves the outdoors, sports, and board games—and they are proud to call Stayton home.

Brad Emmert ~ Assistant Principal/  Alternative Ed. Coordinator 

Mr. Emmert joined the administrative team in 2023 after serving at Dean of Students at Stayton High School beginning in 2018. Prior to SHS, he started his career at Silverton High School, where he taught English and Social Studies and coached multiple sports. After nine years, Mr. Emmert moved to McNary High School in Keizer to take a Behavior Specialist position before eventually landing in the North Santiam School District. He is a proud alum of Oregon State University, having earned a major in History with a double emphasis on English and Geography. Mr. Emmert then completed his Master’s program through Willamette University in 2006 and began his teaching career. He has over 20 years of coaching experience in football at the Varsity level as both a Head Coach and in various Assistant roles. He has also coached baseball and softball throughout his career, and he is involved with the youth programs in the area. Mr. Emmert and his wife reside in the house her grandparents built, and they are the proud parents of three boys and a girl. He loves Stayton High School and is thankful to be a part of such an amazing community.
