Vicky Storey ~ Principal

Mrs. Storey has been with the District since 1997.  She taught English at Stayton High for 17 years before moving to the District Office to become the Instructional Support Assistant Coordinator. In this role, she was also the District AVID Coordinator and Instructional Coach for teaching staff. She came back to Stayton High School in 2018 as Assistant Principal and assumed the role of Principal in 2021.

Mrs. Storey loves interacting daily with students and cheering the Eagles on at events as often as possible. She has a Bachelors degree in English from Western Oregon and a Masters in Teaching from there as well. She did her administrative work at George Fox University.

Joe Traeger ~ Assistant Principal

Mr. Traeger joined the Stayton High School team in 2021.  Prior to becoming our Assistant Principal, Mr. Traeger spent 11 years at Southridge High School in the Beaverton School District, where he taught and coached. Service leadership and relationships drive his work to students at the center of education. Traeger has a double degree from Oregon State University, along with a Master’s and Administrative license from Portland State University. Activities and sports are near and dear to his heart. Mr. Traeger has 14 years of coaching experience as an assistant varsity coach in football, women's basketball, baseball, and was a head softball coach for 4 years before becoming an Activities Director and Administrator. Making the move to Stayton feels like coming home as Traeger and his wife both grew up in the small town of Mt. Angel. He is the father to two boys.

Darren Shryock ~ Assistant Principal/ Athletic Director

Mr. Shryock became the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal at Stayton High School in 2014. Prior to joining the administrative ranks, he taught high school English and coached boys' basketball for 25 years. Although he taught and coached at McKay High School and Silverton High School, he and his family have been Stayton residents for many years. His two older girls both graduated from Stayton, and his wife taught Kindergarten at Sublimity Elementary. After playing basketball at Corban University (formally Western Baptist College), Mr. Shryock went on to earn his master's degree from Western Oregon University and his Initial Administrator's License from George Fox University.

Brad Emmert ~ Assistant Principal/  Alternative Ed. Coordinator 

Mr. Emmert joined the administrative team in 2023 after serving at Dean of Students at Stayton High School beginning in 2018. Prior to SHS, Emmert started his career at Silverton High School, where he taught English and Social Studies and coached multiple sports. After nine years, Emmert moved to McNary High School in Keizer to take a Behavior Specialist position before eventually landing in the North Santiam School District. Emmert is a proud alum of Oregon State University, having earned a major in History with a double emphasis on English and Geography. Emmert then completed his Master’s program through Willamette University in 2006 and began his teaching career. Mr. Emmert has over 20 years of coaching experience in football at the Varsity level as both a Head Coach and in various Assistant roles. He has also coached baseball and softball throughout his career, and he is involved with the youth programs in the area. Emmert and his wife reside in the house her grandparents built, and they are the proud parents of three boys and a girl. He loves Stayton High School and is thankful to be a part of such an amazing community.
